E.ON Climate & Renewables dedicates Texas wind farm

BRACKETTVILLE, Texas, Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) North America dedicated the Anacacho Wind Farm today with an onsite ceremony.

The project, located in Kinney County, Texas, is approximately 14 miles southeast of Brackettville and consists of 55 Vestas 1.8 megawatt (MW) turbines providing 100 MW of power. Anacacho Wind Farm began commercial operation in December.

More than 200 people were hired during construction and the project will employ approximately 8 permanent positions on the wind farm in Kinney County.

EC&R has invested more than $5 billion dollars in the U.S. in the last five years, creating more than 5,000 construction jobs and another 200 permanent jobs to keep its wind farms up and running.

Locally, this project will contribute more than $17 million in local taxes, while paying $8 million in local salaries and more than $34 million to landowners.

When operational, this project will mark the 18th operational wind farm in North America for EC&R, giving the company more than 2,700 MW online.
