ATLANTA, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power today launched a new solar energy education initiative and website that will provide comprehensive information and personalized assistance for customers interested in learning more about solar energy.

Georgia Power developed the program to educate customers about how solar works, help them determine if solar is right for them, and provide expertise, resources and assistance for those interested in taking the next step to add solar to their home or business.

The online tool features a calculator to help customers determine the costs and savings associated with solar energy, links to solar installers, information about Georgia Power's solar buyback and Green Energy programs, and available customer incentives.

"Our customers have told us they look to Georgia Power for solar energy information," said Mike Hazelton, Georgia Power's Marketing vice president. "This new initiative and website will make it easy for customers to learn the basics of solar, and provide them with the tools they need to decide if solar is right for them."

As part of the company's initiative to enhance its solar presence, Georgia Power has trained employees throughout the state to serve as solar energy consultants.  These individuals will help customers understand the fundamentals of solar technology, and provide support and advice to residential and small business customers interested in solar.
